The Trust Team

The Trust Team, comprising of the Executive Leadership Team and Trust Central Team, supports each of our schools in meeting their statutory and regulatory requirements while aiding and managing operational services across the Trust.

The Executive Leadership Team

The Executive Leadership Team, comprising of the Chief Executive Officer and Director of Education, holds the senior leadership in each of the schools to account, provides support and guidance to the school’s Head Teachers and formulates bespoke School Improvement Programmes based on an audit of the school’s current strengths and needs.


Ruth Doughty
Chief Executive Officer

Having trained in London, I began my teaching career in Bexley then moved into Kent teaching at schools in the North Kent area. I was a Leading Maths Teacher for Kent supporting many schools.  I have been a Headteacher since 2004, starting at Culverstone Green which was a ‘satisfactory’ school but it moved to good within a short space of time.

After doing some collaborative work with schools in our area, I became an LLE as part of a pilot project in North Kent and spent time as Executive Headteacher of Platt Primary School and Culverstone Green Primary School in 2012.  I have had experience as a mentor for Head Teachers new to post. In addition, I have been a representative on the North Board of KAH for the past four years.

In October 2015, in conjunction with the Headteacher of Riverview Infant School, we formed The Pathway Academy Trust as both schools have the shared ethos of child-centred learning.  We are delighted that our Trust has grown over the past three years, with Riverview Junior School being sponsored to us in 2017 as part of their improvement journey.  Wrotham Road Primary School joined in June 2018 and Meopham Community Academy joining in September 2018 and we are excited to move forward together.  The growth of the trust has been exciting to watch as the opportunities for pupils and staff are growing.  We are now five schools and plans for trust improvement are robust.

I live in London with my husband and one cat! In my spare time I enjoy Pilates and swimming.  To relax, I love reading and enjoying going for long walks!


Nicole Caulfield
Director of Education

Having started my teaching career in Worcestershire, I moved to Birmingham and then into leadership roles in Kent, firstly as Early Years Leader, then as Deputy Head, giving me experience in a range of different schools and Local Authorities.

I have been a Headteacher since 2001, firstly at a small Infant school in Medway, which moved from ‘Notice to Improve’ to Good with excellent features in 18 months.  I then moved to Gravesham in 2010 to be Head of a four form entry Infant School, which was graded Good prior to conversion.

After doing some collaborative work with schools in our area, I became an LLE as part of a pilot project in North Kent and spent time as Executive Headteacher of Riverview Junior School between July 2015 – December 2016

In October 2015 in conjunction with the Headteacher of Culverstone Green Primary School we formed The Pathway Academy Trust as we both have the shared ethos of child-centred learning.  We both want the children in our schools to leave us remembering memorable experiences, creative learning and innovative outstanding teaching and share the strong belief that as leaders we have a collective moral purpose to be outward looking and to work together in collaborations that directly impact on positive outcomes for children and staff.

Much of my experience as a school leader has been in EYFS and in KS1 which is an area of expertise; including curriculum design and development and teaching and learning.

I have areas of expertise within the structures, systems, processes and procedures that enable schools to run effectively listed below:

  • Leading change and improvement
  • Developing leadership & management capacity
  • Supporting Head Teachers new to post
  • Health & Safety

In addition, I have been a representative on the North Board of KAH for the past four years and am the current Leadership Advocate for the North.

I live in North Kent with my husband, step-son, 2 cats and a rabbit. Much of my spare time is taken up with riding my horse. I also enjoy travelling, seeing friends and family, going to the cinema and theatre.

The Trust Central Team

The Trust Central Team, comprising of the Trust Business Manager, Trust Finance, Personnel and Data Officer and Trust Secretary are responsible for the operational functions of the Trust and provide Business Management support to the schools. They source and procure contracts for services for all of the schools and the Trust’s central operations. They constantly review the service delivered to ensure that it meets expectations and delivers value for money. The team works closely with the school’s finance teams to identify opportunities for the joint procurement of services, thereby using economies of scale to enable discounts on the services offered, both at School and Trust level.


Andrya Norris
Trust Business Manager

I began my career in education finance as a Deputy Bursar for a large secondary school in Medway in the year 2000, following thirteen years in retail banking.  In the last eighteen years, I have gained experience in all phases of schools in Kent and Medway as well as working for the Schools Financial Services Team of Kent County Council.  My role for KCC took me across the county delivering weekly and monthly finance contracts as well as bespoke services and training school finance officers.

I left KCC in 2011 to work directly as Finance Manager for two of my contracted schools, one of which was Culverstone Green Primary School.  Over time, my role at Culverstone grew and I left the second school to focus my attention on the upcoming academy conversion and formation, with Riverview Infant School, of the new multi academy trust in October 2015.

I am a member of the Institute of School Business Managers and have completed the Level 4 Certificate in School Business Management.  I have also completed the CIPFA Certificate of Financial Reporting for Academies.  I aim to complete the Level 6 Management apprenticeship degree for School Business Leaders in the next few years.

My role is to manage the business operations of the trust and its constituent schools, ensuring financial compliance with the ESFA, charity regulations and accounting practices.   I work with the Trust’s Executive Leadership Team to support the school’s Head Teachers and Business Managers in achieving their educational goals while maintaining a balanced budget.  This is a demanding but rewarding role and I enjoy the challenges that it presents. 

Since its formation, the central team has expanded to meet to needs of a growing trust, with the welcome addition of the Trust Finance, Personnel and Data Officer and Trust Secretary.

I live with my husband and two children in Medway and enjoy walking, cycling and Pilates in an attempt to keep fit and active.  I also enjoy reading and listening to music whenever possible.


Victoria Windus
Trust Finance, Personnel & Data Officer

I have had an unconventional path to school business management, having previously worked as an engineer, a retail project and programme manager, and owner of my own franchise business running toddler play classes and parties.  As I have children of primary school age, I was keen to find a career that would allow me to work term-time only and fit around the school run.  I initially applied for the role of Finance and Admin Assistant with The Pathway Academy Trust when it just consisted of the two founding schools, and since then my role has developed into being the Trust Finance, Personnel and Data Officer.  It has been a wonderful learning opportunity and I very much enjoy being able to use my skills to support the finance and personnel functions in the different school environments, which in turn helps the schools to deliver their educational priorities and goals.

Outside work, I enjoy spending time with my family exploring the Kent countryside and beyond.  My husband and I are also involved with running the youth group at our local church.  In the limited free time that I have, I love reading and photography, I try to run and swim every week, and I recently did a quilt-making course! 


Ron Dale
Trust Secretary

I have worked in the area of school governance since 2004.  During that time I have gained a wide range of experience by working with various primary and secondary schools across Kent.  As well as the regular governing body support I have also acted as clerk for exclusion, parental complaint and staff hearings.

I gained the BTEC Level 3 Clerk to Governors in May 2007, completed The Professional Clerk programme in 2018 and obtained a City & Guilds Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) in January 2013.  I was awarded KCC Clerk of the Year in 2008.  As a member of the Kent County Council (KCC) Clerking Service I have been a mentor and trainer for clerks as well as an assessor for The Accredited Clerk (TAC) programme run by KCC.  In addition to my role within The Pathway Academy Trust (TPAT) I continue to work with maintained schools on behalf of KCC.

I was clerk at Riverview Infant School prior to the formation of TPAT.  I agreed to continue working with the school and once TPAT was established my role expanded to include providing support for the Trust Board as well as clerking the Local Governing Bodies (LGBs) of the member schools.

I am now the Trust Secretary and work with the Trust Business Manager and Executive Leadership Team to provide support in the area of governance for the Trust.
